3: FLIGHTY MARILYN
Sponsor: Welcome Newcomers of the Eastern Shore
Artist: Carol Sailor

About the Pelican: Flighty Marilyn is taken from the Pop Art image epitomized by Andy Warhol in 1964. He was always eager to take advantage of any outrageous event for publicity - so voila! Flighty Marilyn. She is shown her in a red lame' gown, beads and studded tail feathers. Her wingspread displays the multiple images of Marilyn against the red, orange, and turquoise backgrounds used by Warhol. The extension of the wings act as long fingers with painted nails accented with a diamond ring.

About The Artist: Since 1988, Carol Sailor has had a custom residential interior design business, Carol Sailor Designs, serving clients in Atlanta and Chicago. Prior to that, she was a Freelance Art Director for PIMA Magazine and a freelance designer for a group of health related magazines in Highwood, Illinois. She designed sets for television productions in Charlotte, NC, then in Nashville for Opryland Productions and various advertising agencies. She is married, with one child. Hobbies include oil painting and crafts.
