About the Pelican: Pavlovacan is inspired by Anna Pavlova, the famous Russian ballerina who brought the art of ballet to the world outside Europe.
About The Artist: While attending the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Mrs. Mosher had seven years of Russian training with Ballet UAB under the direction of national and international artists. As a soloist with Ballet UAB and principal artist with the Alabama Dance Theatre, she performed in a great variety of dance and theatrical productions, as well as in educational and advertising films. Before becoming a partner in Creative Outlet Dance Center, she was an instructor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Burchfield Ballet and Ballet Mobile. She has also taught in various secondary schools and private dance studios and traveled throughout Alabama with the Artist in Schools program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts. In 1993, she was the Dance panelist on the Alabama State Council on the Arts and Humanities. During the years at the Creative Outlet Dance Center, she has executed numerous large scale scenery, prop and costume pieces. Most recently she created the two dancing trees and the Crocodile for Children's Dance Theatre Production of Peter Pan.
About The Sponsor: The Fairhope Single Tax Corporation is always involved in community improvements and events. From donating land overlooking Mobile Bay in 1931 to the City of Fairhope to be held as parkland in perpetuity, to providing funds for much needed sidewalks to be paved for the safety of our children, to the renovation of the historic city hall and creation of a city musuem presently underway in that facility, the Single Tax Corporation is an active participant in many projects in the Fairhope area.
