About the Pelican: Fly High, Danny Boy is dedicated to Daniel Eric Mandel and incorporates symbols of his short but precious life. You are My Sunshine on the sunny side of the pelican, has special significance to the artist, while the side depicting moonlight and stars contains the message Maybe stars aren't just balls of light, perhaps they are our loved ones shining down upon us. A symbol composed of Danny's initials can be seen upon the outstretched tail which, when seen from above, symbolizes Danny with arm reaching for the sky, while the sterling silver symbol of Jupiter, which Danny always referred to as Heaven, hangs around the Pelican's neck. About The Artist: Amy Sorrell is an Artist, a special needs teacher and an innovator with a love of travel. A jewelry & metalsmith designer, she also makes purses, quilts, blankets and clothes. Amy has been a cheerleader, studied dance and drama, was a choreographer for school plays, a musical and set designer and a full time gymnastics and cheerleading coach for the city of Mobile's Gymnastics' Center. Amy attended the Savannah College of Art and Design.
