Cassity Brothers Construction
Cassity Brothers Construction Company is best known for exceptional workmanship in the Gulf Coast area. With their barges, tall cranes, boats and other heavy land equipment, twin brothers, Matt and Scott Cassity build piers, boat houses, bulk heads, decks and stair-steps--as well as homes and buildings in land-locked areas. They have recently been given public recognition for their service to the environment. They donated the use of their equipment and their own personal time to install tall poles in rivers around the Bay which will provide opportunities for the Osprey to build nests in their natural habitat. The Cassity brothers work together almost daily in a land-air-water-environment; they are very tuned-in to nature around them. At the end of any given day they have a story to tell about sightings of pelicans, ospreys, ducks, herons, fish, alligators and more. The one thing the Cassity brothers want known about them is that in all of the work they do, they give their deepest respect and consideration to intelligent and conservative construction along the waterways.

Fairhope Paint & Body Shop -- Jubilee Paint & Body Shop -- Gulf Shores Collision Center
Often times companies that are decades old sit back and reflect upon where they have been instead of looking towards the future. Not so for the folks at Fairhope Paint & Body Shop! They are growing stronger than ever. After 44 years in business they are transitioning their business to the third generation in the Chupek family. It all began in l963 when the founders, John Chupek & Austin Beasley opened Fairhope's first independent collision center on Bancroft Street across from Faulkner, where Manich Real Estate is today. Today they are in a state of the art facility on Greeno Road with 2 other locations, Jubilee Paint & Body Shop in Daphne and Gulf Shores Collision south of Foley. From 3 employees in 1963, the company now employs a total of 31. The entire team within the corporation believes in a set of core values; honesty, integrity, quality workmanship and providing value for their services. Along with good business principles, these values have allowed them to be a good employer and an upstanding member of the community, and to form deep long lasting partnerships with many of the major insurance carriers. They have been recipients of the Autochex Customer Satisfaction award for the past 4 consecutive years. This is why they are Baldwin County's Premier Collision Repair Team.

Fairhope Single Tax Corporation
The Fairhope Single Tax Corporation is always involved in community improvements and events. On parkland overlooking Mobile Bay donated in 1931 to the City of Fairhope to be held as parkland in perpetuity, the Single Tax Corporation made a financial contribution to place a bronze statuary group based on a 1913 picture of Marietta Johnson actively teaching students on the campus of the Organic School. Marietta Johnson was instrumental in promoting the progressive education movement and established the campus in 1907 as a model to provide a noncompetitive educational environment that allowed children to develop at their own pace. The Marietta Johnson School of Organic Education provides an active learning experience to the present day.

Fairhope Single Tax Corporation
The Fairhope Single Tax Corporation is always involved in community improvements and events. From donating land overlooking Mobile Bay in 1931 to the City of Fairhope to be held as parkland in perpetuity, to providing funds for much needed sidewalks to be paved for the safety of our children, to the renovation of the historic city hall and creation of a city musuem presently underway in that facility, the Single Tax Corporation is an active participant in many projects in the Fairhope area.

Fairhope Single Tax Corporation
The Fairhope Single Tax Corporation is dedicated to the preservation of our natural habitat, most recently with the donation of approximately 42 acres of land that is part of the Weeks Bay watershed, with a goal of restoring it to open, undeveloped parkland by the removal of kudzu and other alien vegetation, the addition of nature trails and a model restoration of the environment of Cowpen Creek. The City of Fairthope is clarifying the posssible use of this land to serve as a mitigation bank for new development with a 10 percent set aside for green space/parkland in new developments over 10 acres.

Fairhope Single Tax Corporation
The Fairhope Single Tax Corporation is always involved in the betterment of the community. Offering land, money and labor to better our way of life is at the core of the organization. The Single Tax Corporation is proud of our involvement in numerous projects and especially pleased to sponsor the Art Takes Flight Pelican project. We consider it a celebration of the rebirth of the pelican population to our Mobile Bay area.

Fairhope Single Tax Corporation
In 1894 a group of people from Iowa, believing that the economic conditions under which they lived were unnatural and unjust, decided to incorporate the Single Tax concepts of Henry George. To do this they decided they needed a fresh start so they moved to Fairhope, Alabama. There they founded the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation to demonstrate those single tax concepts in the hope that single tax would be adopted by the governments as the sole source of raising revenue. The Fairhope Single Tax Corporation owns approximately 4500 acres in and around Fairhope, and leases parcels of land to our lessees, who hold renewable 99-year leases to our land and title to any buildings and improvements thereon.

Ann Faulkner
As a life-long pianist, I envisioned a musical pelican, one with the music staff, treble clef and notes. "Stars Fell on Alabama" is displayed on the pelican's wings, referencing the Hogy Carmichael standard that is now closely connected to singer Jimmy Buffet. Mr. Buffet has ties to this area and includes the song in his repertoire. The artist, Nancy Rowe, has cleverly captured the concept with a tuxedo-clad pelican sporting a red bowtie and cummerbund.

Paul and Cooky (Klein) Kennard
Our family would like to say thank you for the opportunity to honor our Dad, Mr. Joe Klein, and to make a donation to the community we all love. A photo contest picture that the Fairhope Courier ran in 1964 showing my Dad throwing the cast net off the old wooden Fairhope Pier was the inspiration for the painting of our pelican. This is our proof that when he was not laying brick he was catching mullet! My husband, Paul, has nicknamed our pelican, "Trapper", because he always kidded my Dad that he did not catch the fish, he trapped them. My Dad will be 85 years old St.Patrick's Day. We chose this Art Takes Flight endeavor to honor our Dad with "Trapper", decorated by my brother, Mike Klein.

Michael Pereira, the sponsor of the Pelican Biplane, likes old things. In his office you will find a 1946 Zenith Consoltone radio that still works and in his home you will see a 41 inch high Zenith Universal radio that still plays. So no one in his office was surprised to learn of Mike's 1937 WACO Cabin Biplane Model YKS-7. (The acronym WACO stands for the Weaver Aircraft Company that made aircraft from 1919 to 1946. Mike's longest trip in the WACO was from San Diego, California to Wilson, Louisiana. Mike Pereira has worked for the investments firm of Merrill Lynch since December, 1972. Many of his co-workers in the Fairhope office delight in telling him that he was working for Merrill before they were born. Mike's favorite answer to this is Oh--You were liquid assets back then.
